Show me another »Do you need a full drivers licence in Australia to drive a houseboat?
I and my cousins are planning a houseboat holiday together. We will be 19, 17, 17, and 16, and all have our P driving licences. I was wondering if we would be able to take this venture on our own, and if we would be allowed to drive? The companies website doesn't say.

Mate I am pretty sure you dont need to be licenced to drive the houseboat due to the engine size and top speed.

- IN most states a full drivers licence is good enough
- You do not need a Boat Lic. to drive a house boat. You are supposed to get detailed instruction from the Marina supplying the boat. Unfortunately most House Boat drivers I come across have no idea of navigation rules or basic common sense.
Good thing they are slow........
