Has anybody here stayed in a houseboat in Amsterdam? Did you like it? Would you recommend it?
I've arranged for a long layover in Amsterdam (may 22-26), and I've got a couple of friends meeting me there (flying from the states). Last time I was in Amsterdam, I stayed in a hotel - it was nice, but the houseboats looked like fun.

i have some friends that stayed in amsterdam last spring time on a houseboat and lovvvvvved it! they told me it was a perfect time of year because the weather was lovely and it was a unique amsterdam experience. my friends booked through holiday velvet at the floating huis

I wish that I could afford a trip like that. - My brother used to live in a houseboat, although not in Amsterdam.
It is certainly good for a holiday, I am told that most houseboats which are a bit bigger, are also good to live.
If you can get a houseboat for your stay, do it! - You may have a little trouble finding a boat to rent for such a short time. I used to live on one. In May it would be nice,but they can be very hard to heat in the winter.
