Keeshond....Dutch Barge Dog....do they bark, or not...?

i just adopted a chow/keeshone and he has not barked or vocalized since i got him today,is it possible that he may have been devocalized? he can hear! but isn,t barking or vocalizing at all.

  i had a keeshond and it barked no more than the average dog. the grooming is more of a problem as this is a daily chore and can not be missed.

  I have one - she's a darling but they're natural watch dogs.
  
  They don't bark non-stop, but if the doorbell rings... they'll let you know (not to mention if someone pulls into the driveway, there are deer in the yard, the oven timer goes off, your cell phone rings in another room...)
