Even protected marinas can be trouble in bad storm. You could move it inland if possible. You could also have it hauled out and stored ashore. You still may receive damage from wind and flying debris, but it will not sink.

This year we moved the boat from North Carolina north to the Chesapeake Bay to avoid a storm. Not a house boat, but same idea, get the boat to safe water.

Good Luck, Boat Safe!

either move it to a safe harbor, or pray it is still there after the hurricane blows over.

Discuss your options with other boaters in your marina. It's a good bet that they have weathered a hurricane before. The Marina operator will be a good source if info on more sheltered areas. The best advise is be prepared well before a storm hits, have extra heavy lines and anchor and chains ready. If you already have the boat, weather proof it as best you can, if looking for a boat look at it's design and construction. Good Luck!

Depends a lot on your location in "Coastal Florida". If yo are on the east coast near Stuart, I would head up to Indiantown to the marina there to weather out a hurricane. A good bet would be to haul out if that is possible for you. A lot of people take their boat into the mangroves and tie up with several lines.

If you intend to use your boat during the season, keep at a marina til a hurricane is moving your way, have a plan and location where you plan to avoid the weather, but, I would not keep tied up for months. If I wanted to avoid weather all together, sell your boat, and rent one as needed.

I weathered 5 hurricanes before selling our sail boat, made it pretty good til the last one.
